Snow was followed by freezing rain, and then an outright downpour, which subsequently froze solid and stayed that way for days. Groundhog day is *tomorrow*. Six more weeks of winter?

This happened in Oregon a few years ago. The best part is watching dogs try to walk on it!

Reggie was in Portland this weekend and I got a chance to hang out with him a little.

Turns out he’ll be here again for New Years Eve, performing at the Someday Lounge. If you live here in Portland and want something awesome to do on NYE, I can’t recommend this enough. Reggie is incredible.

“A 73-Year-Old Gives Basketball a Second Shot”

This guy plays for the Roane State Community College team. Wow. Apparently, in his 20s, he was kicked off his college basketball team for “soaping” the coaches’ office. He always wanted to finish his college basketball career, so when he retired from his job as a newspaper editor he enrolled at Roane State and made the team!

He doesn’t play very much, but his goal is to score over 10 points for the team this season. He made two free throws last game, so only 8 more to go!

Apparently he’s developed quite a bond with his teammates and they all really like him. Recently some teammates of his were busting his chops in the locker room and he responded by jokingly saying, “watch out, I have some friends in high places.” His teammate’s response was “where? in heaven?”

The team’s average attendance has quadrupled, from 100 fans a game to 400.

I saw this movie with some friends of mine and went out for beers with them afterwards. They went on and on about how terrible it was. I just sat there quietly because I really liked it!

How to get from SE Portland to Estacada, according to the movie Old Joy:

From SE Portland, cross the Willamette River and head West on HWY 30 towards Astoria (the complete opposite direction of Estacada, and not even on the right side of the river).
After passing Sauvies Island, figure out a way to cross back over the Willamette River even though there isn’t a bridge (ferry maybe?).
Return to where you started in SE Portland. The St. John’s Bridge will be on your right.
Head south on I-205 (this is actually the right direction).
Stop heading towards your destination, and transport yourself back to HWY 30 towards Astoria (Maybe hit up a holodeck and get beamed there?).
Get beamed back to I-205 South. You’re there!
